A New Method for Performance Evaluation of Turbo-Codes
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, a new method for the performance evaluation of Turbo-Codes is presented. The method is based on estimating the Probability Density Function (pdf ) of the bit Log Likelihood Ratio (LLR) by using an exponential model. It is widely known that the pdf of the bit LLR is close to the normal density, and the proposed approach takes advantage of this property to simplify the calculations. The moment matching method is combined with the maximum entropy principle to estimate the parameters of the new model. A simple method for computing the confidence intervals for the estimated parameters, as well as for the Bit Error Rate (BER) is presented. The corresponding results are adopted to compute the number of samples that are required for a given precision of the estimated values. It is demonstrated that this method requires significantly fewer samples than the conventional Monte-Carlo (MC) simulation.

An approach to fault detection and correction in design of systems using of Turbo codes
We present an approach to design of fault tolerant computing systems. In this paper, a technique is employed that enable the combination of several codes, in order to obtain flexibility in the design of error correcting codes. Code combining techniques are very effective, which one of these codes are turbo codes. The Algorithm-based fault tolerance techniques that to detect errors rely on the c...

متن کاملCombined turbo codes and interleaver design
In this letter the impact of the distance spectrum and interleaver structure on the bit error probability of turbo codes is considered. A new turbo code design method for Gaussian channels is presented. The proposed method combines a search for good component codes with interleaver design. The optimal distance spectrum is used as the design criterion to construct good turbo component codes at l...
متن کاملNovel methods in the improvement of turbo codes and their decoding
The performance of turbo codes can often be improved by improving the weight spectra of such codes. Methods of producing the weight spectra of turbo codes have been investigated and many improvements were made to refine the techniques. A much faster method of weight spectrum evaluation has been developed that allows calculation of weight spectra within a fews minutes on a typical desktop PC. Si...
متن کاملAsymmetric Turbo Codes for Lte Systems with Medium Frame Length
The selection of the component codes of turbo codes has a major influence on the performance of these codes. In this paper we propose a new type of asymmetric turbo codes for medium length of interleaver, based on the selection algorithm for the generating polynomials matched to a largest spread QPP interleaver. From the performance results one can observe that the new asymmetric turbo codes pe...
